The Seven Values
Each letter in A.N.C.H.O.R.S. stands for a value that students pledge to practice every day.
Accountability
"I will be accountable to myself and for my own actions. I can always be trusted to do what is expected of me." Taking responsibility for choices and being reliable in everything you do.
Never Give Up
"I will never give up even when a difficult task is before me. Displaying grit is the path to growth. Perseverance is good." Working through challenges with determination and understanding that struggle leads to growth.
Civility
"I will demonstrate politeness and courtesy in my speech and carry it within my heart as a model for others to see." Showing kindness in words and actions, serving as a model for the community.
Honesty
"I will make choices that strengthen relationships of trust with others. I will always choose the truth." Making choices that build trust and always choosing truth over convenience.
Organization
"I will organize my thoughts and my mind before I take action. I will seek advice from others to ensure a positive trajectory." Planning before acting and seeking wise counsel to stay on course.
Relationships
"I will form strong relationships with others. I will always consider another's needs before my own." Building strong connections and considering others alongside yourself.
Strengths-Based
"I will use my strengths-based gifts and talents to improve myself and the world around me." Using your unique gifts to make a positive impact on yourself and others.
My kids talk about A.N.C.H.O.R.S. at the dinner table. They know what accountability means because they practice it every day at school. That kind of character education does not happen by accident.
Recognition Cards
When a staff member observes a student demonstrating an A.N.C.H.O.R.S. value, they award a recognition card on the spot. Students learn that character is noticed and valued.
A.N.C.H.O.R.S. Wall
Recognition cards are displayed on the A.N.C.H.O.R.S. wall for the school community to see. Students take pride in being recognized by their peers and teachers.
Monthly Drawings
Students who earn cards are entered into monthly random drawings. This rewards students caught doing the right thing and reinforces positive behavior.
School-Wide Culture
A.N.C.H.O.R.S. values are referenced in morning meetings, classroom discussions, conflict resolution, and athletic competitions. They shape how CFP students treat each other.
Character Education at Central Florida Prep
The A.N.C.H.O.R.S. program at Central Florida Preparatory School provides the framework for character development across every grade level. A.N.C.H.O.R.S. stands for Accountability, Never Give Up, Civility, Honesty, Organization, Relationships, and Strengths-Based. These seven values are woven into the fabric of daily school life through a recognition system where staff members award cards to students caught demonstrating character in real time. Cards are displayed on a school-wide wall, and students are entered into monthly drawings that celebrate positive behavior and reinforce the values they practice every day.
Character education at CFP supports academic success and prepares students to be responsible adults, good citizens, and effective leaders. When students internalize values like accountability and perseverance, they carry those habits into their coursework, their relationships, and their future careers. The A.N.C.H.O.R.S. framework connects directly to college readiness and life skills by teaching students to plan before they act, choose honesty over convenience, and use their unique strengths to contribute to the world around them. This is whole-child education built on daily practice, not a single lesson plan.
A.N.C.H.O.R.S. is a character education program, not a behavior reward system. While students are recognized for living the values, the purpose of the program is to teach and reinforce character traits that become part of who students are, not to incentivize short-term compliance. The recognition cards and monthly drawings exist to celebrate character in action, but the goal is lasting personal development.
